The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) – Northern Diocese is a religious institution that owns and operates various social and economic institutions, including hotels. In order to strengthen the management and operations of its institutions, the Diocese invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:
HOTEL MANAGER: Lutheran Uhuru Hotel and Conference Center
Lutheran Uhuru Hotel and Conference Center is a hospitality facility providing accommodation, food and beverage, and conference services while maintaining professional standards, good ethics, and Christian values. The hotel also contributes to the sustainability of the Church’s mission and its services to the community.
Duty Station: Lutheran Uhuru Hotel and Conference Center – Moshi
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Hotel Manager will be responsible for efficiently, professionally, and responsibly overseeing the overall operations of the hotel; ensuring excellent guest service, effective management of resources, increased revenue, and the promotion of ELCT’s Christian values and principles throughout all hotel operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hotel Manager will be generally responsible for:
- Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the hotel.
- Managing human resources and maintaining employee discipline.
- Managing hotel revenue and expenditure and preparing regular operational reports.
- Ensuring high-quality guest services and maintaining good relationships with customers, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing strategies to grow the hotel’s business and increase revenue.
- Ensuring efficient utilization and proper management of hotel resources.
- Ensuring that hotel operations comply with the principles of the Church, applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The applicant should:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Tourism, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field from a government-recognized institution.
- Have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in hotel leadership and management or in a similar hospitality or service-oriented institution.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, planning, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Have experience in the use of digital service-delivery systems and technology.
- Have experience in tourism marketing, particularly in mountain climbing tourism, as well as domestic and international tourism.
- Have demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and the management of human and financial resources.
- Be proficient in computer applications, data-entry programs, and social media platforms.
- Demonstrate high levels of integrity, honesty, professionalism, and conduct consistent with Christian principles.
- Applicants aged 35–55 years are preferred.
SALARY
Salary and other benefits will be provided in accordance with the Northern Diocese Staff Development/Employment Structure.
