The Kilimanjaro Central District (Jimbo la Kilimanjaro Kati) is a part of the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (KKKT). It was officially established on January 1, 1982, following its separation from the Kilimanjaro Eastern District. Initially, the District headquarters was located at the Kiboriloni Parish in 1982 and later moved to Mwereni-Majengo Parish in 1990.

At its inception, the district comprised 12 parishes. As of the latest data, it has expanded to include 41 parishes distributed across 7 sections. The total membership stands at 53,267, with 24,315 adults (46%), 17,486 children (32%), and 11,466 youth (22%). The youth demographic is notably smaller, possibly due to migration in search of employment opportunities. A significant portion of the congregation resides in rural areas.

The District continues to grow and adapt, aiming to serve its community through spiritual guidance, education, and social services.
