The Hai District is one of the five districts within the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (KKKT). It is situated across five administrative districts: Hai, Siha, Moshi, Meru, and Simanjiro, with a primary focus on serving the Hai District.

The district is divided into five sections, encompassing 51 parishes and 121 localities. It serves a total of 88,259 members, comprising 29,971 children (34%) and 58,288 adults (66%). Among the adult population, 16,531 are women (57%) and 13,440 are men (43%).

Partnerships and International Relations

The Hai District has maintained a partnership with the Rotenburg Diocese in Germany for approximately 30 years. This longstanding relationship has facilitated numerous collaborative projects, including the establishment of the Vocational Training Centre (HVTC) and the Boloti Agricultural Training Centre. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the development of the diocese and its community.

Recently, the District has initiated a new partnership with the Forchheim Diocese in Germany. Currently, they are jointly undertaking a project to construct a vocational training college at the Sawe Congregation, aiming to enhance educational opportunities and vocational training within the community.

These international partnerships exemplify the diocese’s commitment to fostering global relationships that support its mission and contribute to the holistic development of its members.
